Hochtief has reached an settlement to purchase Autmatec, a German company that specialises in the construction, refurbishment and set up of transmission line infrastructure.
The deal is set to increase Hochtief’s presence in the power infrastructure sector, subject to approval by the German Federal Cartel Office.
The transaction worth of the deal has not been disclosed.
Founded in 1997 and primarily based in Walldorf, Germany, Autmatec serves main transmission and distribution community operators.
The company generated roughly €50m ($57.8m) in income in 2026 and employs around 80 specialists.
Autmatec’s companies cowl the complete overhead transmission line worth chain, including web site preparation, tower works, foundations, energy line set up and project management.
Hochtief acknowledged that the acquisition aligns with its strategy to pursue growth in markets formed by long-term investment trends such as grid modernisation and power infrastructure.
The company said European grid operators are planning main investments to support electrification, combine renewable power and strengthen power security, sustaining demand for transmission line experience.

With the transaction, Hochtief aims to access Autmatec’s technical capabilities, certifications and relationships with network operators in what the company described as one of the fastest-growing infrastructure markets in Europe.
Hochtief expects the addition of Autmatec to complement the operations of Hochtief Infrastructure and Hochtief Engineering, enabling a more integrated approach to engineering, procurement and project management for transmission infrastructure.

Following completion, Autmatec’s present management workforce is set to stay in place.
Hochtief acknowledged that by becoming a member of the group, Autmatec will gain improved access to assets, a broader buyer community and the skill to compete for bigger initiatives.
