A raging wildfire along Italy’s famed Amalfi Coast pressured precautionary evacuations and left vacationers on edge as emergency crews battled flames across the iconic Mediterranean getaway.
Firefighters were deployed in both aerial and ground operations to fight the blaze that broke out in scrubland close to Amalfi.
Efforts to extinguish the fire continued uninterrupted along the coast after the blaze erupted Monday night, according to Reuters.
The flames affected areas surrounding Cus Pogerola, Positano, Amalfi, Tovere di Amalfi and close by coastal zones, native information retailers reported.
Fire crews labored through the night time to forestall the flames from reaching residential areas, and no accidents or harm to houses were reported.
While robust winds initially prevented helicopters from participating in the response, firefighting plane joined the operation by morning.

Italy’s national fire service, Vigili del Fuoco, said on X that emergency crews responded to scrubland fires stretching between Positano, Amalfi, Agerola and Vico Equense along the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Peninsula.
A complete of seven ground groups and three plane were deployed as half of the firefighting operation, according to the Turkish information group Anadolu Agency.
As a precaution, some eating places and amenities in key areas were evacuated as considerations grew among vacationers staying in the area, the information outlet reported.
Local leaders warned of extreme environmental harm and publicly raised suspicions of arson, Italian newspaper Il Mattino said.
Positano Mayor Gabriella Guida confirmed that the fire ravaged the woods of Tordigliano on the border between the Amalfi Coast and the Sorrento Peninsula, the newspaper reported.
The flames reached much of the state highway — which was closed to guarantee secure firefighting operations — and descended toward Positano.

It also threatened higher mountain hamlets in the Capo d’Acqua space before Montepertuso, between Positano and Santa Maria del Castello, according to native newspapers.
Guida expressed fears that the loss of centuries-old trees would set off main hydrogeological disruption and landslides once the first rains arrived, Il Mattino reported.
She said she believes the cause was probably arson, pointing out that fires breaking out concurrently across Vico Equense, Agerola, Amalfi and Positano appeared to point out a coordinated plan, rather than a coincidence, native retailers reported.

Guida acknowledged the financial toll on the vacation spot, noting that vacationers were frightened during what was supposed to be a stress-free trip.
She urged anyone with data about the fires to communicate up, according to the newspaper.
Sorrento Mayor Corrado Fattorusso launched an official assertion expressing solidarity with the administrations and communities of the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast, according to native information outlet Il Sole 24 Ore.
