One of Bachelor in Paradise‘s greatest love stories didn’t actually play out on a beach in Mexico. It happened off screen, involved social media, and resulted in the wedding of Bachelorette and Paradise alum/current Paradise bartender Wells Adams and actor Sarah Hyland.
As Decider noted in our deeply compelling “Make Wells Paradise Host” argument, Adams appeared on Season 12 of The Bachelorette, participated in Paradise Season 3, and made such a mark that he returned to take over as bartender when Jorge Moreno left the show. When Adams was pouring drinks on the spinoff, he and Hyland started trading flirty tweets. He slid into her DMs, the two began dating in 2017, and they recently tied the knot in August 2022. Iconic!
On Episode 12 of Bachelor in Paradise Season 8, Adams surprised viewers by opening up about his relationship with Hyland on air. And we can’t get enough of their precious love story. For those who need a recap, on Monday night’s episode Adams third-wheeled a date between his friend Danielle Maltby and her Paradise significant other Michael Allio. Before the beloved bartender gave the couple some alone time, he offered some hope by sharing stories from his own relationship with Hyland.
“We’ve been friends for so long and I vividly remember the day where you were like, “Dani, I gotta tell you something,’ and you started showing me photos of you and Sarah hanging out together and like you were beaming,” Maltby said.
“A lot of people talk about love at first sight and all that kind of stuff, or like you immediately knew, and I never believed that. And then I found my person and I knew that it was over, you know?” Adams replied. “I remember that first night hanging out with Sarah, and I think I texted my sister being like, ‘Well, I found who I’m going to marry. We’ll see what happens.’ And look at us now. I can’t live without her. She’s like oxygen to me.”
Adams told Maltby and Allio they looked cute together and admitted he “talked to Sarah a lot” about them. “She’s very pumped about what’s happening,” he said. “But yeah, I think there is someone for everyone, and when you find them you just can’t let go.”
Before Adams returned to his bar on the beach, he said, “You guys can come to the wedding,” in reference to his wedding to Hyland, which took place on August 20, 2022. Once he remembered Maltby was already invited, he turned to Allio and joked, “We’ll see if you’re invited.”

According to Reality Steve’s Paradise 2022 predictions, Danielle and Michael don’t get engaged at the end of the season, but they do leave the beach as a couple and are reportedly still going strong. Allio did end up attending Adams’ wedding in August, and he and Maltby reportedly went as dates. They’re even seen with their arms around each other in a group photo.
Here’s hoping Maltby and Allio have a love as solid as Adams and Hyland’s.
