Allspring Global Investments, once half of Wells Fargo, is being ready for a potential sale by its personal equity homeowners, reported the Financial Times citing sources.
The firm was acquired in 2021 by GTCR and Reverence Capital from Wells Fargo and may be valued at roughly $4bn, the unnamed sources said.
They said talks stay at an early level and that no determination has yet been made.
GTCR and Reverence purchased Allspring for $2.1bn.
The transaction came as Wells Fargo separated its asset management business as half of a broader effort to cut back bills and simplify its operations.
Allspring oversees $642bn in belongings and employs more than 360 investment professionals across 18 workplaces.
Its government chair, Joseph Sullivan, previously ran Legg Mason before Franklin Templeton purchased that company in 2020.
Notably, Sullivan served as Allspring’s CEO until July 2025 before being changed by Kate Burke.
According to the company’s web site, staff maintain about 20% of Allspring’s shares.
The sector has seen several outstanding offers this 12 months, including the settlement by Nuveen to buy UK asset supervisor Schroders in a £9.9bn takeover.
Separately, in July, Schroders also agreed to promote Benchmark, its UK built-in financial advice business, to Söderberg & Partners.
Meanwhile, in August, Victory Capital sealed a deal to purchase First Eagle.
Victory’s buy of First Eagle adopted its unsuccessful attempt earlier this 12 months to purchase Janus Henderson. Janus Henderson was finally purchased by Nelson Peltz’s Trian Fund Management and buyers led by enterprise firm General Catalyst.
