Key Takeaways

  • Reusable AI prompts seize your position, context and expectations to improve consistency and save time on recurring duties.
  • Start with one workflow, take a look at and refine your prompts utilizing actual work and review AI outputs rigorously before relying on them.

My company teaches AI for business. At conferences, we show people how to save prompts they can reuse. Afterwards, someone virtually always asks, why do we give these techniques away?

Two causes: First, these techniques can be recreation changers in how you work. Second, everyone should know how to use AI this manner — and we’re only at the starting. After all, you have to begin at the starting, not the finish.

Think about onboarding a new account supervisor. You would give them background on the business, examples of good work and clear expectations. You wouldn’t begin that dialog from scratch every morning. Yet that’s how many people use AI.

A saved immediate captures that handoff. You clarify the activity, present the context and outline what a helpful reply seems to be like. Then you reuse those instructions instead of beginning over.

Let AI interview you

Start with something you do every week. A recurring activity that someone quietly dreads is a robust candidate. Open a common AI chat and paste this immediate:

I need a reusable AI assistant for [your task]. Interview me one query at a time about my position, how I do this work, what good output seems to be like, what I would reject and which reference information would help. Keep asking until I say we’re finished. Then write clear, copy-ready immediate instructions.

AI will begin asking questions, one at a time. Answer naturally, offering as much element as you can. Use voice dictation if that helps. Half-formed ideas and messy sentences are wonderful. Your job is to clarify what you know; AI can help manage it.

The phrase “one question at a time” issues. It retains the dialog manageable and lets each reply form the next query. If the questions begin to really feel repetitive or your solutions cowl the same ground, you’re in all probability prepared to say: “We’re done. Please prepare the prompt.”

Save the instructions where you work

Test the immediate instructions in a new chat first. Refine them until the output meets your expectations, then save them utilizing your AI instrument‘s supported options. For ChatGPT, this would be a Skill. For Claude, this is a Project.

In ChatGPT: Select @skill-creator and ask it to flip the instructions into a reusable Skill. Give it a title and clarify when it should run.

In Claude: Select Projects from the menu on the left, then select New Project. Name your project, add a temporary description and choose Create Project. Next, click on the plus signal next to Instructions and paste your immediate instructions there.

Save or electronic mail yourself a copy of the instructions, too. Product names and menus change. Your description of how the work should be finished is price conserving.

Try these two prompts

Replace the textual content in each immediate below. Paste it into a recent chat to attempt it, then save it as a Project, Skill or another reusable assistant format supported by your instrument.

Your skilled coach

Act as my sensible business coach. I am [role] at [company and industry]. Start by asking about my duties, targets and greatest problem, one query at a time. Keep asking until I say we’re finished. Then summarize what you heard and ask me to right it. When I carry you a drawback, make clear the determination and constraints before advising. Challenge weak assumptions respectfully, clarify trade-offs and counsel a next step with a deadline and a manner to measure progress. Ask about progress when I return, utilizing the context accessible. Be direct and particular. Distinguish info from assumptions. Do not invent information of my business or promise outcomes.

Give the coach your position description and present targets. A helpful first request is: “Help me decide which of these priorities deserves my attention this week.”

Your contract reviewer

Review the provided contract from [my company’s] perspective. Ask which celebration we are if that is unclear. First, give a short business abstract overlaying scope, charges, fee, time period, renewal and termination. Then rank points High, Medium or Low by business affect, with High first. Review all clauses and provided displays. Check legal responsibility, indemnity, IP possession, confidentiality, information use, task and lacking protections. For each challenge, cite the part and a short quote, clarify the risk and counsel particular fallback language. Flag phrases the counterparty could moderately object to. Compare the contract with any provided customary settlement or playbook. Separate contract info, market judgments and proposed adjustments; qualify unsupported market claims. Never invent phrases or legal guidelines. Flag lacking paperwork, uncertainty and jurisdiction-sensitive factors for counsel. Always state that the remaining contract should be reviewed by our attorney.

Try this immediate with your customary settlement and negotiation priorities. It can help you determine points to raise with your lawyer and focus the review. It does not change legal advice.

Test it on actual work

Did you get excellent outcomes? I doubt it.

Copy your saved instructions into a new chat and clarify what went flawed. Ask AI to revise the instructions, then take a look at them again. After a week, look at what you keep fixing by hand. Those repeated corrections inform you what wants to change in your saved immediate.

Use only instruments and information your company permits. Check data-handling and sharing settings before importing confidential materials. Give AI examples of good work, and review every output before relying on it or sending it to someone else.

Pick one workflow and use it for two weeks. Once it becomes half of your routine, select the next one.
